Five things ...
I've been tagged by Lisa, and I may have just tagged you. Check below ...
Five things in my fridge:
The bottle of champagne John & I opened on New Year's Eve, with about an inch of flat champagne in the bottom. It's May now. Pathetic, I know. Big drinkers we're not.- CoffeeMate Non-Fat Hazelnut Creamer ... my morning elixir
- Boca Burgers ... grilled vegetable flavor
- A tupperware container with dog food ... not to be mistaken for leftovers
- Evening primrose oil capsules
Five items in my closet:
- My trusty, much-worn, fragrant Teva sandals.
A Lakers basketball jersey autographed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ... a reminder of the day we hired him to come speak at our company's employee broadcast ... viewed by 30,000 people around the world ... the absolute worst day of my professional life. The man got up to the podium, pulled out his book, looked down and started reading from it directly, and never looked up for 45 minutes ... and he was a terrible reader at that. We couldn't even give him the hook because he literally never looked up once. What a deadbeat ... and it's on video, so not even his peeps can say I'm stretching the truth. For this, we paid $30,000 through a booking agency---in advance. I truly wish I could remember their name so I could broadcast it here, because they deserve some public shaming, too. Our legal department had bigger fish to fry, so we let it go. I'm still amazed I didn't get fired. And there we are ... me and my bud (pre-broadcast, circa 1997)... and yes, I'm wearing high heels. Can't tell you how long I've been meaning to put his jersey on eBay, along with the autographed basketball I also have. Any eager bidders out there?- A size 4 purple silk jumpsuit. Ah, those were the days.
- Four plastic storage containers filled with fabric and yarn for 'someday' projects
- Too many clothes that no longer fit or still harken back to my corporate days.
Time for a bonfire ... don't you think?
Five items in my car:
- Three CDs: Norah Jones' Feels Like Home, Krishna Das' Breath of the Heart, and Tulku's Trancendence. The Life Force (Kupuri) cut on this CD gets my blood pumping every time. You can hear a snippet here.
A little tub of Lip Medex. I'm crazy about this stuff. I also have a tub in my desk drawer, on my nightstand, in my purse, in the bathroom vanity, and in the kitchen. It's the best stuff I've ever found for chapped lips, bar none. I'm never without it and use it year-round. It works like a charm ... and burns like a mother. Probably all that wonderful petrolatum and camphor ...- A small traveling first-aid kit ... logo merchandise from John's former employer.
- A small Dogbert ... to remind me I'm always just one step away from returning to that loony world ... a great motivator.
- A guitar pick ... left there by Ryan years ago.
Five items in my purse:
A small container of dental floss. I'm obsessive about things between my teeth, especially so after having braces a few years ago.- A $2 bill. Can you guess who that is? (answer below)
- A beautiful inlaid wood business-card holder ... a Christmas gift one year from my friends, Dan & Kay.
- A Chinese fortune that says: 'Your flair for the creative taken an important place in your life.' Written just like that, have a look.
- Bach's Rescue Remedy. It works!
Five people who are 'it' now:
* That's Thomas Jefferson on the $2 bill.

That's the second time I've heard about Rescue Remedy in the last couple of months - must be a sign I need some. Today. (A friend at work gives it to her dog during thunderstorms she said.)
Sounds like that Kareem gear needs to go to someone else - it's just bad juju for you. Too bad.

Hey, thanks for playing! And I just had to chime in on a couple of things:
1) Dump the champagne dregs. That's just embarrassing! And then there will be more room for hazelnut creamer and dog yummies.
2) DO sell the basketball stuff on e-Bay. I think it would "net" you a nice profit (pun intended) and why hang onto those reminders of the worst work day of your life? His fans don't know he's a sucky speaker. Turn that clutter into CASH and spend it on beads! (You won't even have to log the profit in Quickbooks - it's found money!)
3) Burn, baby burn: the purple jumpsuit. Because it's purple. And a JUMPSUIT. Ditto all poorly fitting, unattractive and outdated clothing. I remember some fashion expert going into Gayle King's (Oprah's friend) closet and giving her rules for what to toss and what to keep. If it doesn't fit well; if it is so out of style that people are mistaking you for a Pilgrim or a Pioneer girl; or if you simply don't LOVE it and how it looks on you and if it doesn't make you feel like a million bucks - then chuck it.
Love your Dogbert. And keep the guitar pick in the car - that's just sweet!

Thanks for the tag! (I love tags!) I am taking a little blogging break while I am visiting my sister in NJ with just the children until Monday. I will post when I am home. I am a little frightened what I will find left over in my fridge!

Whoa ... tagged again (feels like getting picked first for games in grade school). :) I will certainly play. ('specially since i have not been feeling particularly blog inspired lately, it's nice to get a little prompting for a post!)
I ditto Lisa - jettison that Kareem T-shirt! Someone will be thrilled to have it (and clearly you are not!). Besides, the folks who would be interested in such memorabilia (without the negative connotations that you have with it) will likely pay quite a few of those $2 bills for it! And wouldn't you rather have those than all that negatatory energy in your closet and life? Buh bye Kareem, buh bye! ;)

Hey, we have the same morning elixir! ;) Thirty grand to read for 45 minutes...where do I sign up? That's my kinda gig! I agree with the others--dump the Jabbar stuff on eBay and feng shui him (and that bad experience) out of your closet!

Hey Sweet Friend. I am behind reading - as usual - and didn't realize you had tagged me until Marilyn told me. I was also tagged by Susan so I'm twice blessed. I love your list so much. Every time I read something that reveals tidbits about you I wish I lived down the street again - but would we ever have met? Probably not! Have a great weekend!

You did a delightful job of responding to a difficult meme.
